Captain Vikram Batra: India’s Immortal Hero
Today, on September 9, we remember one of India’s most exceptional warriors, Captain Vikram Batra. He was born on September 9, 1974, in Pallan village, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. From a young age, his heart was filled with patriotism, courage, and an indomitable spirit, which shaped him into an extraordinary Army officer.
It was during the Kargil War of 1999 that he secured a permanent place in the hearts of the nation. On the difficult mountainous battlefield, under his leadership, the Indian Army captured one strategic post after another. His famous call — “Yeh Dil Maange More!” — continues to inspire soldiers even today.
During a daring mission, he fought the enemy and brought a crucial victory for India. But on July 7, 1999, while fighting at Point 4875 in the Kargil district, he was martyred. With his sacrifice, India lost a brave soldier, but gained an eternal hero.
